Chris proves the Wright man for Essex
Chris Wright
Chris Wright

Essex (207 & 301-8) bt Middlesex (302 & 203) by 2 wkts

CHRIS Wright came back to haunt Middlesex, as he helped secure Essex victory at Chelmsford.

The all-rounder hit a career-best 71 not out to condemn his former county.

Batting at number ten, he joined the fray with the hosts in real trouble at 202-8, as they looked to chase down a victory target of 299.

The 22-year-old and James Middlebrook (33 not out) produced a brilliant undefeated partnership of 99 as they put the Middlesex's attack to the sword..

Wright reached a 74-ball half-century that included nine fours and he celebrated by smashing Shaun Udal into the River Stand for six.
