A new club is combining people’s two loves of film and music together at the Time Out Love London award-winning shop and community hub, The Big Green Bookshop, in Brampton Park Road, Wood Green.

The Good Vibrations music-film club shows music documentaries, films with interesting soundtracks, musicals and anything else that takes their fancy. All the screenings have unique playlists, popcorn and drinks and wherever possible, there will be question and answer sessions with directors, live performances and pre-film shorts.

The film choices are unusual and since beginning in November, the club has screened Sing Street and Muppet Christmas Carol.

This month, the film pick was the cult documentary, Where You’re Meant To Be, featuring Aidan Moffat, who is most known for being the singer in the indie band, Arab Strap. In recent years, he has explored his Scottish musical heritage and the film follows his journey to make more people aware of an array of timeless folk songs. There was also a Q&A with director Paul Fegan during the event.

On Sunday, February 19, Good Vibrations is screening Frank, which will then be followed with a Q&A with its soundtrack supervisor and composer, the award winning Stephen Rennicks. He is a long-time award-winning collaborator of Lenny Abrahamson and also did the soundtrack for the Hollywood flick, Room.

Based on the memoir by filmmaker, author and journalist Jon Ronson, the fictional story is inspired by Frank Sidebottom, the persona of cult musician Chris Sievey as well as other outsider musicians including Captain Beefheart and Daniel Johnston. The soundtrack features songs performed by actors Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
