A supermarket is set to reconsider the location of its ‘click and collect’ service at an underground station car park.
The service, which allows customers to order online then collect groceries, occupies five of the 12 pick-up and drop off spaces at Loughton station in Old Station Road, when it is in operation.
Drivers using the spaces have complained of traffic congestion at the site at busy times and want to see the service relocated to Sainsbury’s larger, neighbouring car park.
In discussions with the area’s Epping Forest District Council representative, Stephen Murray, Sainsbury’s and Transport for London (TfL) conceded the situation is unsuitable.
Cllr Murray said: “Following a call to the Newbury Park store who manage this click and collect service at Loughton I have been contacted by Sainsbury’s London head office.
“They are running this service from this location as a tenant of TfL and both parties now realise that the current arrangement cannot continue and are actively seeking a solution.
“In my opinion given the options that are available this should not take too long to resolve and I will continue watching the situation.”
