A woman was taken to hospital last night after crashing her car into a bank, flipping it twice in the air.
The woman was pulled out of her black Golf after it struck a roadside bank and crashed into nearby bushes in Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey at 6.30pm.
Jacqueline Caines, 32, of Sewardstone Road, witnessed the crash.
She said: “It was terrible. She is lucky to be alive. If she hadn't been in such a robust vehicle she would have been a goner. She looked like she had superficial cuts and was in shock.”
“She clipped the bank on the side of the road right outside my house, flipping the car twice and landing it upside down in the bush. My husband and our neighbours rushed to drag her out of the vehicle.”
The unnamed woman was carried on a stretcher to an ambulance while the road was eventually cleared by around 11pm. Broken glass and other debris remain at the scene.
