The family of a pedestrian killed in while crossing the road have said she was "deeply loved".

Laura Roberts, 46 was in collision with a transit van outside the Chapelfield Nursery in Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, just before 5.30pm on November 21.

Speaking on behalf of Ms Roberts's family, her brother Steven Roberts, said: "Laura was a dearly loved Daughter, Sister, Auntie and friend to everyone that knew her. All the family members and friends will miss Laura very much.”

Laura Roberts lived in Willowcroft Care Home in Sewardstone Road and was returning home after getting off a bus when she was struck by the van.

A 35-year-old man from Waltham Cross was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other driving offences.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries and will report back to police on March 2.

Councillors and residents had called for road safety improvements on the ‘lethal’ stretch of road that has had three serious collisions in the past three months.

A motorcyclist was hospitalised minutes before the fatal collision on the same stretch of road.

Essex County Council said they couldn't comment on new road safety measures until police investigations had finished, but said that they were ‘unaware’ of any issues with the road.
