The dog fled into Epping Forest after being hit by a driver in a Range Rover.
Forest conservators are searching for a pet dog which was deliberately hit by a car this morning.
An Epping Forest Warden was called to Manor Road in Loughton at 10.15am after a dog was seen being hit by a black Range Rover after the driver attempted to scare it from the roadway.
The dog, a brown English bulldog wearing a red collar, suffered a leg injury from the incident.
Passers-by attempted to help the dog however it fled into the forest in a scared state.
Despite searching the area the warden was unable to locate the injured pet and the search has been passed on to Epping Forest conservators.
Anyone who sees the animal is asked to call Epping Forest Animal Welfare on 01992 564608.
