Pharmacy opening hours for festive bank holidays have been announced.

In Epping, the Boots pharmacy in High Street will open between 10am and 4pm on Boxing Day but it will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

The West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has detailed the opening hours for other pharmacies in the area as well as issuing guidance on how to access other NHS services over the festive period.

The CCG advises that people visit their local pharmacy for help and advice on common winter illnesses such as coughs, colds and sore throats and reminds people to ensure they have enough medication before the festive period begins.

Dr Rob Gerlis, Chair of West Essex CCG said: “We hope that everyone in west Essex enjoys a healthy and happy festive period but want to make sure people know where they can find the help they need if necessary.

“Should people find themselves in need of medical help fast but it’s not an emergency, they should call NHS 111 which is available free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.”

GP practices should be contacted for individual opening hours, and the list of pharmacy opening hours can be seen here.
