A new county-wide project aimed at strengthening communities and promoting voluntary work will be launched in Epping.
Essex County Council is holding a series of roadshows to promote its new Stepping Up campaign, with the first events being held in Epping High Street on January 15 and 16.
Charity Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) will be one of the groups present at the event to promote the services and activities it provides to people around the district.
VAEF chief officer Jacqui Foile said: “We are delighted to take part in the Stepping Up campaign, we are looking forward to talking to people about the different local volunteering opportunities, ranging from befriending the elderly to providing administrative support to a local charity.”
The campaign aims to promote “five simple steps” that people can take to create stronger communities, including reusing and recycling more and providing informal care to vulnerable people.
Leader of the council Cllr David Finch said: “These roadshows will shine a light on the incredibly valuable work already being done in communities by the voluntary sector and public services, and provide the opportunity for more people to get involved.”
