Eastbound services travelling towards Epping are being stopped at Loughton after a fire alert at Theydon Bois underground station was discovered.
No services are travelling westbound from Epping while officials investigate the cause of the fire alert.
A Transport for London (TfL) employee said signalling issues were currently affecting Theydon Bois Tube station, and at least one fire crew is present at the station.
The signalling fault suggests a fire on or near the track, the TfL employee said.
