Primary school pupils are still excited after visiting Number 10 Downing Street.

Year 6 pupils from Epping Primary School in Coronation Hill were chosen out of over 20,000 schools to visit the PM’s home for their work supporting Comic Relief on Tuesday (March 10).

The eight ‘lucky’ pupils enjoyed canapés and met the Prime Minister David Cameron, his wife Samantha who welcomed them with a speech and former Dr Who David Tennant.

During the visit David Walliams from TV’s Little Britain read from his latest children’s book ‘The Queen’s Orangutang’.

The comedian gave a signed copy to each of the pupils and donated more to the school library.

Visiting pupil Luca said: “He was hilarious and was using a funny Scottish accent for the characters. His impression of the Queen was great and he used a weird low voice for the baby.

“I bought the book in and read for my class the next day.”

Another pupil Will said the visit was "awesome" and made him want to be a politician as a back-up to becoming a veterinary surgeon when he grows up.

Headteacher Mrs Tracy O’Donnell said the kids were still excited from the visit.

She said: “I didn’t believe it when we were first invited. It was an incredible experience for our pupils that they will remember for a long time.

“Hopefully it will inspire some of them to pursue a career in politics in the future.”
