A man wanted on suspicion of trafficking tonnes of cocaine has been listed as one of Britain's most wanted.

Anthony Dennis, 47, was last known to live in Ongar but is now on the run according to the National Crime Agency (NCA), which has today launched an appeal for information on the UK's most notorious fugitives.

Dennis is one of ten men being investigated in Operation Captura, a multi-agency campaign to track down individuals believed to be hiding from police in ex-pat communities in Spain.

He is wanted by the NCA on suspicion of conspiracy to commit drug trafficking offences outside the UK and conspiracy to import class A drugs.

It is believed that Dennis is the lead member of an organised crime group involved in high-level international drug trafficking.

Between July 1 2012 and October 30 2013, he allegedly conspired with others to import three tonnes of cocaine from South America into the Netherlands using contacts in both continents.

Between the same dates, Dennis allegedly assisted in importing 67.5kg of cocaine into Belgium and Germany, and it is also alleged that the crime group plotted to import cocaine into the UK either by supplying UK buyers outside Europe or by using their own routes.

Dennis is 5ft, 3ins, and has a small scar on the right side of his forehead.

Hank Cole, head of international operations at the NCA, said: “The NCA and its partners will continue to pursue these individuals relentlessly and return them to the UK to face justice.

“Sixty-five fugitives on the Captura list have been caught, along with many more fugitives linked to other operations.

“The exceptional level of collaboration and intelligence sharing with the Spanish authorities has been vital to these arrests.

“However, we still need the support of the public.

“Be our eyes and ears and tell us if you have any information on the whereabouts of our targets.”
