Frustrated phone users are facing an indefinite period of disruption after EE failed to offer an end date for maintenance works.

Many EE users in Epping have had no mobile signal or internet during the day since the start of March, but despite the issues a spokeswoman for the company refused to give a predicted date for works to end.

Faulty masts have been blamed for the disruption by EE, which said “essential structural repairs” are being carried out at one site, believed to be at St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.

Members of the public have reported online that a mast has been turned off during work on a nearby water tower, and some have claimed they have been told the work is due to end on May 1.

The EE spokeswoman said works are being carried out between 7.30am and 4.30pm daily, although customers have also reported issues during some evenings.

A number of people have taken to social media to voice their anger, with some claiming EE have initially blamed people’s phones before mentioning the ongoing maintenance work.

When asked if customers would receive refunds for the disruption, the EE spokeswoman said every request would be treated on a “case-by-case basis”.
