A van believed to belong to a missing man has been found in Nazeing.

The white Vauxhall Combo van was reported to the police after it was discovered abandoned in Crownfield in Nazeing yesterday afternoon (May 13).

The van is believed to have been used by missing Hertford man Brian Bryne, 58, who was last seen at his home address on the evening of May 7.

Mr Bryne is described as white, around 6ft 5in tall, of stocky build, with balding grey hair.

On the day he went missing he was wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt and tanned ankle boots.

Brian’s daughter Lydia Tyrell said: "Dad, we are not a family without you.

"We are holding together by a thread, the thought of you being on your own right now is upsetting us so much.

"Please just contact anyone to say that you are ok.

"We need you so much.”

Inspector Chris Hunt said: "I echo Lydia’s thoughts and would ask Brian to please make contact with someone.

"Our searches are on-going today around the old Broxbourne Lido area and we are continuing to support Brian’s family through this difficult time.

"As Brian’s van has now been located it could be that he has sought shelter somewhere and I would ask people, particularly around Crownfield, Nazeing, to check sheds, garages and outbuildings to assist us.”

Detective Inspector Ben Wright said: “It has now been almost a week since Brian was last seen and we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare, as are his family.

“We continue to appeal for anyone with information about Brian’s whereabouts to come forward.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who lives or works in the area where the van was located to come forward if they have any information.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
