Two people were hospitalised following a three-vehicle collision yesterday evening.
Paramedics, police, the fire service and an air ambulance were called to the scene in Alderton Hill, Loughton, at around 6.30pm following reports of a crash on a sharp bend on the road.
Firefighters fought to free one woman and a man from separate cars.
Using specialist cutting equipment crews had released both of them by 7.30pm.
Both casualties were treated for their injuries at the scene before being taken to Whipps Cross Hospital for further treatment.
