Members of the public have once again described seeing blood spattered across the ground following the latest brawl in Loughton.

A man was hospitalised and three were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) after the fight at Nu Bar in High Road.

Following the assault at around 1.20am on Sunday (June 28), the 18-year-old victim with head injuries was later discharged and the three attackers have been bailed until late July.

Jim Sultan works in nearby Baylis News and described the scene he found at around 10am.

He said: “There was lots of blood outside.

“It was raining on Sunday but it had not started yet and there was lots of blood on the floor.

“I had customers coming in asking me about it.”

Loughton has seen a number of violent incidents in recent years with patrons of nearby LuXe often involved in fighting, some of which people claim is not reported to the police.

“It is just getting worse and worse,” said Stephanie Moody, 55, of nearby Smart’s Lane.

“The clubs are just too close to the residential area - the noise is unbelievable, and the fighting.

“There is broken glass and laughing gas canisters where people come out.

“It is escalating… I do not think the police are doing anything about it.”

When asked about Nu Bar’s response to the fight, a manager claimed it “was not that bad”.

She said: “I have seen worse.

“They arrested the person, there is nothing to talk about really.

“We did have enough security on Saturday night, a great doorman, there were plenty there.

“They got him out straight away, the police came and that was it.”

But David Linnell of the Loughton Residents’ Association said the clubs should not be there in the first place.

He said: “I do not think the centre of Loughton is the right place for a nightclub that brings people from across the county.

“To be fair to LuXe and Nu Bar they seem to be trying hard to deal with [the fights], but in a sense that is not the issue – they are in the wrong place.

“In a way it does not matter how well they deal with one incident.

“We have had a chain of this kind of incident over the years.”

The assault comes less than a week after Essex Police claimed night-time economy crime in Epping Forest has dropped by more than 20 per cent in the last year.

Mrs Moody said it does not feel that way for people living close to trouble venues.

“I have called [the police] at least twice since May,” she said.

“They may have one or two cars in the High Street, but it is on the back streets as well.

“We hate living round here, and it is as simple as that.”

District commander Chief Inspector Denise Morrissey has been contacted for comment.

Anyone with information about the incident at Nu Bar should contact Essex Police on 101.
