More than £300 was raised for resources for school pupils with autism at a cake sale last week.

The money was raised as Debden Park High School in Willingale Road held two autism awareness days on Thursday and Friday (April 21 and 22).

Organised by learning support and psychology teacher Penny Ventura, an assembly and presentation for all pupils educated them on how autism can affect people, especially in a busy school.

A words and phrases competition was also held, aiming to help pupils understand how confusing everyday life can be for those with the condition.

Children and staff provided cakes for the sale, with a total of £323.45 raised.
