Controversial nightclub LuXe could be demolished and replaced with flats.

This morning (August 12), people living near the notorious venue received letters from Epping Forest District Council notifying them of the proposal.

A number of violent attacks have happened inside and outside the club.

In January, two men were bottled and kicked while celebrating a birthday in the ‘VIP area’.

Other incidents include a man’s face being fractured so badly he could not talk to police, a 150-person brawl in 2011 and a suspected homophobic attack in 2012.

In October last year the council ordered managers to remove DJ equipment, ban dancing in some areas and stop charging for entry at the end of a long-running planning dispute.

However, paid events running until 2.30am with booked DJs were still advertised months later.

The new planning application, apparently registered on July 1, was made by Amit Kundra, company of agent Christopher Harrigan.

Few details are currently available, but the description reads: “Demolition of the existing nightclub premises and erection of a four storey building (with top floor recessed) comprising a retail unit on the ground floor and eight flats on the three upper floors.”

The venue continues to advertise upcoming events, including a five hour DJ set this evening.
