Re-enactors will speak Old English, perform Saxon music and quaff medieval ale as an ancient monarch is commemorated this weekend.
Waltham Abbey will plunge back into the 11th century King Harold Day is celebrated on Saturday (October 8).
Marking 950 years since the brief reign and quick death of King Harold II, who has many links to the town and is believed by some to be buried at the Abbey, the event will feature a costumed procession starting in Sun Street at midday.
The procession will end at the Abbey churchyard, where there will be a number of attractions including archery, falconry and craft stalls.
Medieval stocks will also be in place for any troublemakers at the event.
The day runs from 10.30am to pm at the Abbey Gardens.
