These photographs show the terrifying moment a dog owner raced across a frozen lake to save her pet after it fell through the ice.
The snaps were taken at Connaught Water, between Chingford and Buckhurst Hill, around a fortnight ago by Alice Wardill, who was walking in the forest.
The images show a woman venturing out onto a frozen lake, before rescuing her dog, thought to be called Freddie, from the freezing water and making her way back to safety.
Mrs Wardill said: “The dog slipped off the ice and into the water and it could not get out again.
“I think someone called the fire brigade, but if she had waited any longer, it would have been too late for Freddie.
“I do not think a lot of people would have done that, it was very brave of her, the dog was quite a way out on the lake.”
Freddie and his owner then left the park after negotiating the ice safely and went home.
