THINGS got nippy for a reality TV star when she swam in ice-cold water for charity this weekend.

Model and Celebrity Big Brother star Casey Batchelor was one of 29 people to take part in Haven House Children’s Hospice’s ‘Chilly Dip’ on Sunday (February 12).

The event saw the glamour girl swim 27 metres of Hampstead Heath Lido, which was set at a temperature of just four degrees Celsius.

After she finished she was rewarded with a medal and a bowl of hot chilli, as well as the news that the event raised over £6,000 for the hospice in High Road, Woodford Green.

The 32-year-old from Essex said: "The Chilly Dip was amazing. It was a lot colder than I thought it would be, but I’m so glad I did it. I was buzzing afterwards.

“There was such a great team spirit and it’s brilliant to see so many people coming together to support Haven House on a Sunday.

“Haven House is such an amazing charity which does incredible work – I really hope more people can support it.”

This is the second extreme challenge Ms Batchelor has braved for the hospice, completing a fundraising firewalk across hot coals in March last year.

Haven House chief executive Mike Palfreman added: “We are so grateful to Casey and all of our supporters who braved our Chilly Dip.

“This is the first time we done it in north London and we were delighted to see so many people raising funds for local life-limited children and their families over the weekend.

“In the past year, Casey has walked on fire and now swam through icy water for our hospice.

“When it comes to challenge events we really do have something for everyone.”
