AN ISLAMIC trust is inviting the public inside their mosque in an effort to “clear misconceptions” about their religion.

Masjid-E-Umer in Queens Road, Walthamstow, will hold an open day to welcome people of all religions to learn about the history of Islam in Waltham Forest.

Men, women and children are welcome and are asked to dress modestly.

Ebrahim Vawda, one of the trustees of the mosque, said: “We will have an exhibition about the history of Islam in Waltham Forest which goes back to the 1960s. It is very important to make people aware of this and people can come in and see how the mosque works.

“We have invited a number of church groups and we are very interlinked with them.

“There will be people on hand to ask any questions people have about Islam and we have always had good feedback from those who attend.”

The open day will run from 1pm to 7pm on Sunday, February 19.
