A driver has been taken to hospital after a seven-car pile-up on the M25 near Waltham Abbey this morning.

Emergency services were called to Junction 27 of the motorway at around 6.45am this morning (Tuesday, February 14) after a reports of a crash involving several vehicles.

A rapid response vehicle and medics from East of England Ambulance Service were sent to assist and treated an adult male with complaints of neck pains.

He was then taken to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone to receive further care. He remains in a stable condition.

The pile-up caused huge jams for commuters using the M25 this morning, with cars on the anti-clockwise carriageway, initially queuing some 12 miles back to Junction 27 for the M11.

The road was cleared by emergency crews at around 8.30am, however, delays persist, with traffic now tailing back to J28 for the A12.
