A TEENAGER was slashed in the face with a knife in an unprovoked attack.

The boy, 17, was walking along Sheppey Road near Gale Street in Dagenham at 4.30pm on Friday, March 10, when he was attacked.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Three weeks on, police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged in his 20s, around 6ft 4ins tall. He fled the scene along Sheppey Road.

DC Sam Carey, investigating the case, said: "This occurred at a busy time of day and I am appealing to anyone who was in or around the area, who may have seen anything they now think is suspicious, to contact me.

“Their information could mean the difference in identifying this suspect."
