2. Seussical the Musical

Centre Stage returns to the Millfield Theatre following their hugely successful production of The Wiz. Seussical brings together many of Dr Seuss’s much loved characters and fables as it tells the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a small speck of dust that contains the Whos. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a kidnapping, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him and ultimately the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant.

4. Alter Ego Auditions

7. Sinfonia de Carnaval

The multi-instrumentalists Anna Lang and Alois Eberl present with their newest programme. Playing four instruments, the duo, inspired by the rhythms of the Atlantic tango, create colourful portraits of fantastic shapes. With improvisation and their own compositions, funky grooves and drama contrasting the beautiful with the scary.

8. Grey Matters

Young Spoken Word Company present Grey Matters, a poetic exploration of well-being and mental health. This young company have connected with people from all walks of life, listening to their experiences of mental health and discovering their own relationship to well-being. Their poetry and theatre bring to life the taboo words, thoughts and feelings many have tried to silence. Be surprised, uplifted and challenged.

9. A Hero of our Time

Live from the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow. Pechorin, a young officer, embarks on a journey across the majestic mountains of the Caucasus. Disillusioned and careless, he inflicts pain upon himself and the women around him. The story based on the larger-than-life hero Pechorin is adapted from Mikhail Lermontov’s literary masterpiece. Is Pechorin a real hero? Or is he a man like any other? This brand new production by choreographer Yuri Possokhov is a tragic poetic journey.
