A FUNERAL for the policeman murdered on duty in the Westminster terror attack will take place today.
The body of PC Keith Palmer was taken by hearse to the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft at the Houses of Parliament yesterday (Sunday, April 9).
Her Majesty the Queen gave special permission for the 48-year-old’s coffin to rest there before his full police funeral at Southwark Cathedral today.
Usually the honour is reserved only for heads of state and prominent political figures.
Draped in a police flag, his coffin was greeted by officers dressed in black with white gloves. It was then received by his family and the Reverend Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin who led a short service for him ahead of today’s funeral.
The father-of-one died after Khalid Masood stabbed him outside the Houses of Parliament in an attack that killed four others.
Thousands are expected to line the streets of central London to pay their respects.
