A serving police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman while on duty.
PC Ares Michaelides, 49, attached to Enfield borough, was charged yesterday (Tuesday, April 18) with one count of sexual assault on a female over the age of 16.
The charge relates to an offence alleged to have taken place at a residential address in Enfield on November 23 last year, while PC Michaelides was on duty.
He was bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 16.
The officer had been arrested at Enfield police station on suspicion of sexual assault on November 23, 2016, following an allegation made the same day.
PC Michaelides has been placed on restricted duties.
