PUPILS went the extra mile for to raise money for charity.
School children from Moreton Primary School, in Church Road, Ongar, took part in a fun run to raise money for St Clare’s Hospice in Epping.
More than 185 children ran a mile, while parents and teachers cheered from the sidelines.
Adelle Green, of Friends of Moreton School (FOMS), said: “It was really great and really well supported. It was so exciting and all the children had a fun afternoon.”
This was the school’s third year running the mile for the hospice and they have raised £1,200 so far.
Adelle added: “It’s looking really good so far. This is what we have raised so far and we are still counting. We’ll have a big assembly where we present a cheque to the hospice.”
Dani De’ath, from St Clare Hospice, said: “We are so delighted that it was once again a huge success. We were so happy that the rain stopped and the pupils could walk their mile in the sunshine with our lovely Clare bear mascot.
“It is a privilege to receive such strong support from our local schools and to see pupils come together to help raise vital funds and awareness for their local hospice. It is thanks to our local supporters like Moreton Primary that we can provide our skilled and compassionate care to every local family who needs us.”
