AN INTERFAITH group is asking people not to link the Manchester terrorist attack to any particular religion.

Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum is a group made up of representatives from all religions in the borough.

Communication officer Wendy Smith said in a statement: “While we must continue to live our lives as we wish we are reminded of the need to remain alert to the danger of terrorism and report any suspicious activity to the police.

“Please also look out for those in our community who feel vulnerable and may be targeted because some perceive an incident such as this to have some link to them or their faith.”

The group holds regular events to promote understanding and unity among different faiths.

Flags outside Walthamstow Town Hall were flying at a half mast on Tuesday May 23 as a mark of respect to the victims of the Manchester attack.

A book of condolences was opened at the town hall after 22 people including children were killed in the suspected suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert.

Salman Abedi, 22, has been named by police as the attacker.

Didsbury Mosque in Manchester, which Abedi attended, has condemned his actions.

Ramadan, the month of fasting marked by Muslims around the world, will begin this Friday May 26.
