A MAN has been convicted of falsely framing other drivers for his speeding fines.

Narinder Singh, of Parkway, Ilford, was caught speeding several times across east London and Essex between February 2011 and September 2014.

Despite the 46-year-old’s Bentley and Mercedes being registered to his old address in Coopersale in Epping Forest, he claimed it was not him driving when the cameras caught the car.

Singh completed the fine forms under the names of three men all living the same address in Ilford – but it turned out none of them had ever lived there or knew him at all.

It was only when the trio were summoned to court that police realised what had happened and charged Singh with two counts of perverting the course of justice.

He was sentenced to a year in prison, suspended for one year at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 24 and made to cough up £1,500.

Essex Police’s Chris Sydric said: “Singh put innocent drivers through the stress and anxiety of being summonsed to court, forcing them to defend themselves for offences they had not committed.”
