PUPILS visited a nature park after winning an art competition.

The pupils, from Lambourne End school, in Hoe Lane, Abridge, visited Lee Valley Regional Park last in Waltham Abbey last month.

They won the competition after producing work inspired by Lee Valley.

The group of 30 were guided around the park and took part in habitats discovery day, which introduced them to the different techniques and analysis used to identify the creatures living there.

The group of eight and nine-year-olds split off into groups to discover “minibeasts” hidden in the park.

Mrs Diggins, teacher at Lambourne End school, said: “Thank you to Lee Valley for a very enjoyable and well organised day. The children were really engaged and loved being outdoors.”

Sophie, eight, a pupil, said: “I usually hate nature but, when I came here, it was so interesting.”

Oliver, nine, said: “It was very fun to go looking for bugs. You think they are disgusting, but when you see them up close they are beautiful.”
