A PE teacher has launched a campaign to raise awareness about oral hygiene among parents of babies and children.
Eszter Schmaler who runs Tumble Tots play group is holding the Eat Fit Keep Fit week from June 19 to 25.
Ms Schmaler of Loughton has issued parents with written advice warning them about the dangers of children consuming too much sugar.
“This year we decided to focus on the health of the teeth because many parents are not aware that they should be brushing their child’s gums even before they have teeth,” she said.
“Children are spending too much time in front of the TV and are in need more exercise and this is leading to obesity but we should not forget that their teeth and gums need care as well.”
Ms Schmaler, who is in her 30s, holds weekly exercise classes for babies and children up to seven years in Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell, Woodford and Loughton.
The aim of the classes is to improve children’s agility and balance which will stand to them when they pursue sports later in life.
