A MAN who died in a flat fire earlier this week has been named.
Mark Salter has been named locally as the victim of the blaze at a flat in Parkhill Road, Chingford on Wednesday (July 5).
Mr Salter who was in his 50s, had lived alone in the first-floor flat in Parkhill Road, Chingford, for 15 years.
The blaze was spotted by a policeman at 7.20am on his way to work in the nearby station.
Mr Salter was found by fire crews wearing an oxygen mask and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
