Fire crews tackled a blaze at an empty home in Ongar after neighbours saw flames coming out of the property and raised the alarm.
Firefighters we called to the home, in Nine Ashes Road, at around 10pm on Wednesday (July 5).
A neighbour had called the brigade after they had seen flames coming from inside the property.
Crews from Chelmsford, Basildon, Corringham and Leaden Roding fire stations were able to extinguish the blaze by around 10pm.
Firefighters then worked to dampen down the remaining hotspots and were able to leave the scene shortly before midnight.
The fire was caused by faulty electrical cabling in the vacant property.
