Judges were on hand to rate the green-fingered efforts of a town as part of the annual Anglia in Bloom competition.

A group of judges from the competition were in Epping on Friday (July 7), to view three months of work by volunteers to bring a splash of colour to the town.

The group were shown around by Epping in Bloom chairman, Victoria Robertson, who had designed many of the flower and vegetable installations dotted around town.

She said: "Epping in Bloom is still a very small group so along the way we have had help from family and friends and members of Epping Town Council to pick up litter, weed and cut back overgrown branches."

"Tina at Epping Station worked very hard to keep all her plants well-watered and looking lush and I was overwhelmed with the amount of support we received."

Four children, who had won the competition for designing the floral tub displays, also joined the Epping in Bloom team and judges to show off their work.

Volunteers also created a special garden area at Cunningham House care home in North Weald as part of the competition.

Epping Town Council clerk, Beveley Rumsey, said: "Once again, Epping in Bloom have worked extremely hard to please the judges and create wonderful, colourful floral displays around the town.

"On behalf of Epping Town Council I would like to congratulate Victoria Robertson for all the hard work she put in to co-ordinating all the efforts that ensured Epping looked at its best for the judges' visit."
