Students took part in an unusual physics lesson when they got the chance to give their teacher an ultrasound scan at an east London hospital.
A group of 18 sixth form pupils from Chigwell School visited Queen’s Hospital in Romford last week for a behind-the-scenes tour.
It was the fourth time a group of students in the first year of their A-levels were invited into the hospital.
The aim of the scheme is to help them find out more about the medical physics they’re learning in class, by seeing it in a practical environment.
Chigwell School head of physics, Bryan Porter, said: “It’s really impactful for the students to see it in action. It brings thing to life much more than we can in the classroom.
“I’ve come with each group of students to the hospital, and they always say they enjoy it. They’ve just done their AS levels and this is part of their further studies. It’s a really good opportunity for them.”
