Leyton Orient have added ex-Premier League defender George Elokobi to their squad for next season's National League campaign on a two-year deal.

The former Wolves left back, who was recently released from League Two Colchester United, is the second player to join the O's today from the Essex side after forward Macauley Bonne.

Born in Cameroon, the 31-year-old defender moved to England at the age of 16 and signed for Dulwich Hamlet, before joining Colchester United following a successful trial in 2004.

Following four years with the U’s which, included a loan spell at Chester in 2005, Elokobi joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee in January 2008.

The defender quickly became a regular in the starting XI at Molineux and played a key role in helping the Club achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2009.

Having helped Wolves achieve promotion the defender went on to make over 100 appearances before departing in 2014 having also enjoyed loan spells with both Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.

Elokobi then agreed a one-year deal with Oldham Athletic ahead of the 2014-15 campaign and made a total of 27 appearances during his year with the Latics before returning to Colchester United.

In his two years with the U’s, Elokobi made a total of 48 appearances and also spent time on loan at National League side Braintree last season.
