A GROUP of homeless men and women took part in a series of workshops focusing on money management and growing their own foods.
St Mungo’s homeless housing and support hub in Forest Road, Walthamstow hosted volunteers from Wates Residential Developments as part of the ‘Reshaping Tomorrow’ programme.
Participants planted trees in the grounds of the charity’s base at the YMCA hostel in Walthamstow.
Simon Young, manager of St Mungo’s said: “Life skills, including cooking, gardening and budgeting are incredibly important for people’s recovery and so a big “thank you” is offered to the staff of Wates Residential for sharing their time and expertise with our clients.”
St Mungo’s supports rough sleepers, tenants facing eviction and those housed in insecure properties.
Paul Nicholls, regional managing director of Wates Residential, added: “We hope that by supporting an organisation such as St Mungo’s, as part of our Reshaping Tomorrow week initiative, it will go in some way to help enhance the quality of life for those that are homeless in Waltham Forest, Lewisham and the wider London area.”
