ADULTS with learning disabilities celebrated the opening of a day care centre after it underwent extensive refurbishments.

The Markhouse Centre was re-opened on Tuesday, July 11 by Mayoress of Waltham Forest Cllr Yemi Osho.

A new roof was fitted as well as lowered ceilings to soften acoustics and improved care facilities at the centre in Markhouse Road, Walthamstow.

Cllr Angie Bean, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “It was a real pleasure to attend the relaunch of the Markhouse Centre and see so many happy faces enjoying a great day of music, food and fun.

“The refurbishment of this facility means that adults with learning disabilities have a place where they can make new friends and take part in great confidence-boosting activities including art therapy, music making and drama sessions among much more.
