Professionals will lead a series of art workshops offering adults the chance to develop written, performance and craft skills.

The classes are part of the Paths Unseen project, which aims to show people how poetry can be a sociable activity.

Performance poet Keely Mills will lead a poetry workshop and illustrator Jeff Winter will lead a workshop on drawing faces.

It will be held at Epping Forest District Museum, Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, on Saturday September 23 from 10.30am to 3pm. It costs £20 and booking is essential.

Over the past 18 months Mills and Winter have engaged with many individuals and groups from the community teaching them how to write their stories and share their work with others.

As part of the Paths Unseen project, which has been funded by Arts Council England, will also include a show.

Three Acres and a Cow workshop will work on connecting the Norman Conquest and the Peasant’s Revolt with modern issues such as fracking and the housing crisis.

It will be held at Lopping Hall, Loughton High Road on Saturday October 21 at 6pm. Entry is £5 and £9 with a meal.

Inspiration for the Paths Unseen project came from folklore in the area, encouraging museum audiences to consider art as a medium for rediscovering local history.

The project will run until the end of the month at the museum which recently underwent a refurbishment after receiving a £2million grant from Heritage Lottery Fund/
