A burlesque night will be held to raise cash for a charity supporting therapy dogs and their handlers who suffer from a wide range of illnesses.

Life Dogs+ was set up earlier this year by animal assisted therapist, Leigh who relies on her dog Tau to remind her to do everyday tasks such as taking her medication.

The Essex-based charity will hold the event in the Plough and Harrow pub in Leytonstone High Road on Saturday September 30.

Life Dogs+ hold regular therapy sessions and drop-in events for people suffering from mental illnesses and psychiatric and neurological conditions.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

Margot Makebelieve will be opening her box of tricks for the audience.

The trained animals have been found to have a calming effect on handlers living with anxiety and behavioural problems.

The charity which works with people living in care homes and supported housing is hoping to extend its services to youngsters with mental health problems.

The burlesque show by Margot Makebelieve will include a song bird, poetry and performers using fir and will start at 7.30pm.
