A serving Met Police constable has admitted drink driving after hitting a curb with his car.
PC Mario Tavasoli, 32, attached to the force's Royalty and Specialist Protection unit, was pulled over by Essex Police while driving a Toyota Yaris in Abridge Road, Chigwell, on August 27 this year.
Officers pulled over the off duty PC Tavasoli, after he was seen to drive into a curb.
They could smell alcohol and carried out a roadside breath test which showed the constable was almost twice over the legal limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
He was subsequently charged and bailed to attend North Essex Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, October 4) when he pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The officer was sentenced to a 19-month driving ban and fined a total of £592.
The Met said PC Tavasoli is currently on restricted duties and the force will consider whether to open misconduct proceedings now criminal matters have concluded.
