A driver has been caught after overloading his truck with sacks of potatoes.
The 3.5 tonne truck was found to be carrying more than double its permitted weight when police stopped it in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton on November 7.
The driver and the owner have been reported for offences under Section 40A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and will appear in court.
Under the act, a person is guilty if they use, cause or permit a vehicle to be overloaded to a degree that may cause injury to others.
