Children with disabilities from Epping Forest were among those to enjoy a day of tennis fun at an Olympic venue.

Pupils aged between seven and 11 from Woodcroft Special School in Loughton took part in a variety of activities at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in Leyton on Friday (November 10).

The group were invited as part of the annual Disability Tennis Schools Festival staged at the venue and got lessons from the centre’s trained tennis coaches.

Children were equipped with lightweight tennis balls, large racquets and training devices to slow down games and help participants develop their coordination skills and ball control.

Jack Pringle, sports development officer at Lee Valley Regional Park Authority said: “We designed our Disability Tennis Schools Festival to be inclusive, regardless of a participant’s ability.

“It has been lovely to see lots of happy, smiling faces across our courts today – from the pupils and our team of tennis coaches.”
