Fire crews battled for over three hours to contain a fire which broke out in a car repair workshop in Rosebank Road, Walthamstow.

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters were called at around 5.15am on Sunday, November 19 to the workshop in a railway arch.

Half of the shop, which contained car tyres, was damaged by the fire.

Station Manager Stuart Grout, who was at the scene, said: “Crews spent a lot of time cutting away at the building to access the fire.

"They cleared the contents of the workshop in order to reach the seat of the fire.

"Thankfully no injuries are reported.”

Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton, Bethnal Green, Leytonstone, Homerton, Tottenham and Stratford stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
