A man who founded a project to “inspire, encourage and empower the leaders of tomorrow” has invited entrepreneurs, writers and filmmakers to speak with youngsters in his hometown.
Jide Ariyo, founder of the iCAN Project LDN, will host The Insiders – Creatives Edition event in Leyton on Thursday, November 23.
The panel of speakers include Ikenna Mokwe, director and filmmaker, Amelia Dimoldenberg-, CEO of the Youtube sensation Chicken Shop Date, actress Lauren Cato and Daniel Juba, cameraman on X-Factor.
The Project is backed by RCCG Redemption Parish in Leyton and Mr Ariyo hopes Thursday’s event will boost the campaign for Waltham Forest to be named Borough of Culture.
Mr Ariyo, who grew up in Waltham Forest, said: "There are so many creative-minded people that have come out of Waltham Forest and there are also lots of young people looking for inspiration.
“Yes, they can get this online by watching videos on Youtube, but they equally have to develop the habit of coming out of their comfort zone and developing their networking skills as well as their people skill.
“This is what often separates the good from the great."
Entry is free and doors will open half an hour before it starts at 7pm at 49 Grange Park Road, Leyton.
Spaces are limited and youngsters are advised to tweet or direct message the ICAN Project on Twitter: @icanprojectldn
