Epping Forest District Museum is offering a discount to National Lottery players as thanks for the funding it has been awarded by the scheme.

The museum, in Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, will offer 10 per cent off items in its gift shop to visitors bringing a valid lottery ticket or scratch card from December 11 to 16.

The discount is being offered as a '"thank you" to players after the Heritage Lottery Fund granted the museum more than £1.7million.

The cash paid for an extension and redevelopment of the building, which reopened in March last year.

Funding was also used to provide a range of other projects at the museum, including community engagement and acquiring exhibits.

Epping Forest Council leisure services chief, Councillor Helen Kane, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players we’ve been able to provide a fantastic new museum offer in the Epping Forest District and the opportunities for our community to explore the heritage has been massively enriched.
