A man has been arrested after thieves posing as customers held up a corner shop.
Police were called to McColls newsagents in The Broadway, Loughton at around 6.30am on Wednesday morning (February 14).
Officers say two men entered the store, one of whom selected a soft drink and brought to the counter, seemingly to pay for.
As the till was opened by the staff member, the man with the bottle produced a knife and pointed it at the victim.
He reached over and stole the cash tray, which contained a three figure sum of cash.
Both men then left the shop.
Officers are conducting enquiries to establish the whereabouts of the man reported to have been carrying the kitchen knife.
He is described as white, in his mid-20s, and 5ft6ins tall. He was of average build and had a local accent.
He was wearing a black baseball hat and dark clothing.
Another man has already been arrested by police in connection with the incident.
