A former West Ham footballer visited a lodge that provides holidays for disabled people and carers.
Kenny Brown, who played defence for the Hammers and is currently head of coaching at Millwall FC, met staff at Revitalise Jubilee Lodge in Chigwell on May 11.
During the visit he was taken on a guided tour of the centre, where he also had the opportunity to meet some Revitalise guests.
Mr Brown then presented a cheque for £3,300 to Revitalise’s staff which he had raised by running the Virgin Money London Marathon.
He said: “It has been a privilege to work with the people at Revitalise and generate much-needed funds and awareness for such a great charity. I was uninformed and uneducated regarding the hours and stresses involved in the caring of loved ones and what they have to commit to.
“If the small funding I have generated can make a difference to just one person then it has all been worthwhile. Creating awareness of the total commitment and selflessness required of the carers is so important.”
