More than 200 women turned the streets into a sea of pink for a children's hospice.

On Friday, May 18 Haven House held its first 10k Sparkle Walk.

Donning bright pink t-shirts, glitter headboppers and sparkly paraphernalia, participants met at Haven House in Woodford Green at 7pm before wending their way to Roding Valley Country Park, South Woodford and finishing at The Cuckfield pub in Wanstead.

So far more than £15,000 has been raised for the hospice, which has supported more than 900 young people with life limiting conditions since opening in 2003 .

Katie Tyler, events manager at Haven House, said: “For a new event this really exceeded all expectations and to see so many women coming together to raise funds for local life-limited children and their families was wonderful.

“We are grateful to our sponsor, Hetheringtons, who really got behind our Sparkle Walk and even turned their shop window pink to promote the event.

“The beautiful weather and the excitement of the Royal Wedding gave us all an extra special reason to sparkle.”

Haven House is holding its 15th Birthday Summer Fair on July1.
