Members of a school's council were given a tour of Parliament and met the town's MP.

Eleanor Laing spoke with members of Hereward Primary School's Student Council when they visited the Education Centre at Westminster.

As well as presenting ideas for new laws, the future politicians in the making spoke with Mrs Laing about her role as MP for Epping Forest.

Sophie Chapman, school council leader, said: "What a fantastic day it was.

"Not only did the children have the chance to venture into the Houses of Parliament, but they were also surprised with a visit from our Member of Parliament, Eleanor Laing.

"It was such a delight to see the children buzzing with excitement and enthusiasm throughout the day."

School Council representative Summer said the trip was one she would always remember.
